In 2022, Blue Machinery Scotland acquired Murray Plant, a specialist sales agent for a variety of attachment brands including Rammer which has supplied equipment to the construction, mining, demolition and quarrying industries for the last 30 years. The Rammer Range of equipment not only includes their world-renowned hydraulic breaker line but also a full range of attachments for the construction, demolition, scrap and recycling sectors. The acquisition of Murray Plant has complimented the overall portfolio of brands well and will be a key pillar of performance going forward. ​


As a result of this exciting growth, Blue Machinery Scotland is now looking to recruit a Management Accountant for its office in Stirling to work directly with the Financial Controller of Blue Machinery Scotland to focus on the provision of high-quality management reporting and oversight of the performance of the company.


ABOUT THE ROLE - MANAGEMENT ACCOUNTANT


With a direct reporting line to the Financial Controller, the Management Accountant will be primarily responsible for assisting in the delivery of the financial and monthly management accounts pack, analysis and commentary for internal stakeholders which will be utilised to drive performance and capitalise on opportunities. There will also be a requirement in coordinating and managing the workload of the accounts assistant which includes cash, bank reconciliations, sales and purchase ledger.


Additionally, the Management Accountant will be expected to bring a continuous improvement mindset to existing systems and processes and work in conjunction with the Financial Controller providing support for the budgeting and forecasting process along with ad-hoc reporting, some of which will require data manipulation through Excel.


This role represents an excellent opportunity to join a growing entrepreneurial business in the Central Belt of Scotland. It will offer the successful candidate a chance to fully understand the key drivers of a business with the benefit of being developed in the role directly by the Financial Controller with a view to being part of the future succession planning of the finance function as well as contributing to the success of the company by playing a key role in its journey. 


Management Accountant

Reports to:

Financial Controller

Key Stakeholders:

Financial Controller, Managing Director, transactional finance team, various internal senior stakeholders, Management Team 

The challenge of the Management Accountant role will be to produce high quality financial reporting whilst working at pace in an environment that is constantly evolving to meet the demands of the business. The management accountant will have direct influence in developing existing systems, processes and reporting.

 

The successful candidate will need to be able to add credibility through clear communication to business stakeholders and leadership team. 


Specific Responsibilities include;


  • Preparation of monthly Management Accounts
  • Submission of quarterly VAT returns
  • Analysing the monthly financial results and preparing commentaries for internal stakeholders
  • Bank and cashflow analysis
  • Annual budgeting and forecasting
  • Assist with co-ordination of Accounts Assistants’ workload – including cash, bank reconciliation, sales ledger and purchase ledger
  • Interface with external advisors including auditors
  • Ad-hoc data analysis and management information reporting

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS


  • 0-3yrs Qualified CA/ACCA/CIMA or QBE
  • Advanced Excel Skills
  • Self motivated to deliver under pressure and to specific deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Hands on approach and willing to handle a broad range of financial matters
  • High level of organisation skills with a strong attention to detail
  • Strong stakeholder management and influencing abilities



SALARY & BENEFITS


  • £42,000 - £46,000 DOE
  • 28 days inclusive of statutory holidays
