THE ROLE

Firelink continues to grow year-on-year, and this continued success has created the requirement for a high calibre CFO to join the leadership team. The CFO will play a key role in the delivery of strategic objectives, working closely with the Managing Director to create value and drive growth. 


To be considered for this fantastic opportunity, applicants must have operated at leadership level in a high-performing SME; be hands-on in their approach; have M&A, integration, systems, and process improvement experience; and be a first-class people manager. 


This role represents a key hire, as the company’s first CFO, the successful applicant will be expected to bring vision, drive and commitment, in addition to excellent operational, strategic, and commercial capabilities.


  • Operating at leadership level, working closely with management to drive the company’s financial and operational performance. 
  • Overseeing all financial aspects of Firelink’s strategy, establishing effective mechanisms to ensure the flow of financial information to the board and relevant external parties. 
  • Completion of the monthly board pack, including the preparation and presentation of financial information, value-added commentary, KPI reporting and analysis to help drive the growth and performance of the business. 
  • Establishing a highly effective finance function with full ownership of cashflow & working capital management, budgeting & forecasting, P&L and balance sheet management, and management & financial reporting. 
  • Ensure that company’s systems are is fully maximised to support the firms current and future business requirements. 
  • Further develop positive working relationships with external parties including suppliers, bankers, investors, and advisors.
  • Ensure that robust financial controls, compliance, and risk management frameworks are in place and adhered to.

Requirements & remuneration

  • Margin optimisation and other commercial initiatives to drive value creation
  • Demonstrable M&A experience
  • Experience in integration and optimisation of finance functions post-acquisition
  • Proficiency in ERP and financial software relevant to mid-market businesses
  • Track record of building best-in-class finance functions

This fantastic role would be well-suited to an ambitious senior finance leader with a strong track record in the SME sector. 

They will be commercially focused with an ethos of continuous improvement and possess the proven ability to deliver strategic growth initiatives. 


The CFO will be able to clearly evidence their experience in building a finance function that meets the current and future requirements of the business. 


Additionally, they must also be able to work closely with the Managing Director to drive business performance and strategy. 


This is a varied and hands-on role that requires an individual with a great work ethic who is close to the detail yet can see the bigger picture and operate effectively at board level. 


The salary will reflect the seniority of this role and will include Bonus Potential and Growth Share Options.
